When a non-beeswax altar candle is desired, Root’s Liturgy Brand candles are the suggested alternative to stearic candles. Liturgy brand candles consist of a paraffin blend lightly enriched with pure beeswax. They have many of the properties of a beeswax candle and burn longer than a comparable stearic candle and are less expensive than stearic candles per burning inch. A Liturgy Brand candle is far less brittle and is white in color as opposed to the natural hue of Root’s beeswax candle.
